Tommy Doyle, Marion Chambers, Lindsey Wallace, and Cameron’s father, Lonnie Elam, celebrate Michael’s imprisonment. Michael inadvertently murders responding firemen with their own equipment. Laurie, her daughter Karen, and granddaughter Allyson go to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital for surgery. Before arriving home, Michael murders Laurie’s neighbors.
Tommy, Marion, Lindsey, and Lonnie get a wireless alert about Michael’s rampage. Vanessa’s car hits Michael’s, but he escapes unnoticed. Tommy plots Michael’s murder. Karen discovers Michael is alive but doesn’t tell Laurie to heal. Allyson rejoins Tommy’s group to avenge her father. Laurie and Hawkins awaken and remember.
Michael murders Marion, Vanessa, and Marcus, encouraging Haddonfield to stay inside. The four friends locate Lindsey. The gang tracks Michael’s travels and victim locations and determines he’s going home. Tommy takes Lindsey to the hospital, reunites with Annie’s murderer Leigh Brackett, and informs Laurie about Michael. As Laurie leaves the hospital, Michael murders his neighbors.
Lance Tovoli, Vanessa’s driver and hospital escapee, is mistaken for Michael. Tommy’s mob chasing him around the hospital tells Karen he’s not Michael. Despite her attempts, Lance jumps through a window. Laurie encourages Karen and Tommy to pursue Michael. Lonnie commits suicide at Michael’s. Before Michael murders Cameron, Allyson and Cameron find his corpse.
Karen stabs Michael with a pitchfork, steals his mask, and taunts him to follow. Tommy’s mob attacks and kills Michael. Michael kills Tommy and Brackett once the mob disperses. While Allyson is treated, Karen explores Michael’s home. Laurie watches as Michael kills Karen in Judith Myers’ room.
