The plot of the film Better Off Dead

Lane Meyer, an adolescent, develops a crush on his girlfriend Beth Truss. Lane becomes despondent when Beth abandons him to marry famous skier Roy Stalin. He resolves to commit himself. Meanwhile, his next-door neighbor Mrs. Smith accepts the exchange French student Monique Junot, and her overweight son Ricky Smith considers Monique his girlfriend; nevertheless, Monique has an unrequited passion for Lane, who ignores her. Lane befriends Monique after meeting her at a high school party. Lane, who is outraged, dares Roy to a competition on the K12 hill but then regrets it. Monique, on the other hand, is a fantastic mechanic and skier who repairs Lane’s Camaro and teaches him how to ski the K12 hill. What will become of Lane?
