Adventure Time Cartoon
Adventure Time is a Cartoon Network show produced by Pendleton Ward. The sitcom features Finn (Jeremy Shada) and his closest buddy Jake (John DiMaggio), a shape-shifting dog. In the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, Finn and Jake live with Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), the Ice King (Tom Kenny), Marceline (Olivia Olson), and BMO (Niki Yang). It’s based on a 2007 Nicktoons short film. After the short became a viral phenomenon online, Nickelodeon passed on its option before Cartoon Network commissioned a full-length series, which premiered on March 11, 2010. In the same year, the show began on Cartoon Network on April 5 and concluded on September 3, 2018.
It was inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and video games. It’s hand-drawn; storyboard artists pick action and language based on preliminary sketches. Each episode took 8-9 months to finish, therefore numerous episodes were worked on at once. Cast members recorded their lines in groups, while guest performers had recurrent and small roles. Each episode is 11 minutes; pairs of episodes cover half-hour program slots. Cartoon Network confirmed on September 29, 2016, that the series will end after its tenth season. On September 3, 2018, the series finale aired, followed by Distant Lands specials and the Fionna and Cake spin-off on HBO Max.
Adventure Time was a rating triumph for Cartoon Network, with some episodes reaching over 3 million people. Although geared for children, the program has a following among teens and adults. Adventure Time has earned 8 Primetime Emmys, 1 Peabody Award, 3 Annie Awards, 2 British Academy Children’s Awards, 1 Motion Picture Sound Editors Award, and 1 Kerrang! Award. It’s also been nominated for three Critics’ Choice Television Awards, two Annecy Festival Awards, a TCA Award, and a Sundance Film Festival Award. One comic book spin-off from the series won an Eisner and two Harveys. The franchise includes licensed novels, video games, and clothes.
