Animaniacs is an American animated comedic musical television series developed by Tom Ruegger for Fox Broadcasting Company’s Fox Kids block in 1993, then transferring to The WB in 1995, as part of their Kids’ WB afternoon programming block, until the series concluded on November 14, 1998. It is the second animated series developed by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment in collaboration with Warner Bros. Animation, after Tiny Toon Adventures. It originally aired 99 episodes and a feature-length picture, Wakko’s Wish. Reruns were eventually shown on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Discovery Family, which was known at the time as The Hub Network.

Animaniacs is a variety program with short skits involving a vast cast of characters. While there was no specific formula for the program, the bulk of episodes was made up of three short mini-episodes, each featuring a different group of characters and bridging portions. The series’ trademarks were its music, humorous social commentary, pop culture allusions, character catchphrases, and innuendo aimed at an adult audience.

A two-season resurrection of the series was announced in January 2018, with producer Steven Spielberg, lyricist Randy Rogel, and several of the major voice actors returning.
