Where is Black Dragon Pool?

Black Dragon Pool is a well-known pond in the picturesque Jade Spring Park (Yu Quan Gong Yuan), which is situated at the foot of Elephant Hill, a short walk north of Lijiang’s Old Town in Yunnan Province, China. It was created during the Qing period in 1737 and provides views of the region’s largest peak, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, from its white marble bridge.

In the past, the pool itself was sometimes dry, obscuring the famed vista. The park, however, was designated a water conservation area by the local government in 2010. The pool is now full of water, its previous beauty restored.
