Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the opinion, rejected ‘Roe’ as “egregiously wrong from the start” and held that both ‘Roe’ and ‘Casey’ — another landmark abortion judgment of the court from 1992 that reaffirmed ‘Roe’s central tenet, that women have the right to terminate pregnancies up to foetal viability — “must be overruled.”

Politico quotes a majority opinion: “It’s time to respect the Constitution and restore abortion to elected officials.”
The draft judgement claimed Roe’s “historical survey was constitutionally irrelevant and clearly erroneous,” its reasoning was “exceptionally poor,” and the decision had “damaging repercussions.”
Alito said that a right to abortion isn’t founded in American history and customs.
