What makes Candyman so evil?

Daniel Robitaille, also known as [the] Candyman, is a fictitious character and slasher icon who appears mostly in the Candyman film series. He is the major enemy, yet he first appears in Clive Barker’s 1985 short tale The Forbidden.

In the film series, he is the malevolent spirit of an African-American man who was cruelly murdered in the nineteenth century for a prohibited interracial love affair, and he will haunt and kill anybody who says the name Candyman five times in a row in front of a mirror. He also sometimes attacks people who publicly dispute his presence as a ghost.

He murders individuals by slashing their chest or back open and forcing them to bleed to death with a hook for a hand. With a total of 22 killings, he ranks tenth on the list of slasher icons.
