Craig McCracken developed Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends for Cartoon Network. Boulder Media in Ireland animated it largely in Adobe Flash for Cartoon Network Studios. In a world where people and imaginary pals live, Mac’s mother pressures him to forsake Bloo. Bloo is spared from adoption at an orphanage for abandoned imaginary pals if Mac visits him every day at 3:00 PM. Mac and Bloo engage with other imaginary pals and home staff in their day-to-day escapades, frequently getting into trouble.
After adopting two shelter dogs, McCracken applied the approach to imaginary pals. The series launched on Cartoon Network as a 1+1/2-hour feature on August 13, 2004. Friday 20-minute programs started on August 20. The series ran for 6 seasons and 79 episodes till May 3, 2009. After the series concluded, McCracken departed Cartoon Network.
