Friday the 13th is a 1980 American indie slasher film directed and written by Sean S. Cunningham, starring Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Harry Crosby, Laurie Bartram, Mark Nelson, Jeannine Taylor, Robbi Morgan, and Kevin Bacon. Its narrative revolves around a group of adolescent camp counselors who are killed one by one by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen an abandoned summer camp.

Counselors Barry Jackson and Claudette Hayes slip into a storage cabin to have sex in 1958 at Camp Crystal Lake, where they are murdered by an unknown attacker. In the current day (1979), camp counselor Annie Phillips is transported halfway to the reopened Camp Crystal Lake by Enos, a truck driver, despite old Crazy Ralph’s warnings and the townspeople’s anger. Enos tells Annie about the camp’s tragic history, which dates back to 1957 when a small child drowned in Crystal Lake. She gets another ride from an unknown individual after being dropped off, who takes her past the camp. When Annie manages to flee the truck, the assailant pursues her into the woods and cuts her neck.
