Fritz Lang

Friedrich Christian Anton “Fritz” Lang (December 5, 1890 – August 2, 1976) was an Austrian-German-American director, screenwriter, and sometimes film producer. He was one of the best-known émigrés from Germany’s Expressionism school, and the BFI named him the “Master of Darkness.” His most renowned films are the revolutionary Metropolis (the world’s most costly silent picture at the time of its release) and M, both created before he relocated to the United States, where he made significant contributions to film noir.

We won’t tell you what this horror film is about since it would spoil the experience of seeing it. This is a thrilling thriller with a psychological edge, as are many famous films from the 1930s. Its interesting representation of crime and punishment may be disturbing to contemporary viewers, but we believe it’s a wonderful Halloween party—or simply a fun way to get into the holiday mood on any other night of the year.
