Gintama Anime Manga
Hideaki Sorachi’s Gin Tama ( (銀魂, lit. “Silver Soul”) ) is a Japanese manga series written and drawn by him. The narrative follows the lives of samurai Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer with his comrades Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura to pay the monthly rent in Edo, which has been captured by aliens termed Amanto. After his editor recommended making a historical series, Sorachi added the science fiction backdrop to build characters to his liking. From December 2003 to September 2018, it was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, then in Jump GIGA from December 2018 to February 2019, and finally on the Gin Tama app in May and June 2019.
Sunrise converted the series into an original video animation (OVA), which debuted at the Jump Festa 2006 Anime Tour in 2005. This was followed by a complete 367-episode anime television series, which premiered on TV Tokyo in April 2006 and concluded in October 2018. There have been three animated films created. The first film was released in April of 2010. The second film was released in July of 2013. The third and final film will be released in January 2021. Aside from the anime series, Gin Tama has inspired a number of light novels and video games. Warner Bros. Pictures produced a live-action film adaptation of the same name in Japan in July 2017.
