Who is Hei Hei Chicken ?
A key character in Disney’s 2016 animated feature film, Moana, is Heihei (often written Hei Hei). In Motunui, he’s known as the “village fool,” a clumsy, accident-prone hen. Heihei stowaways aboard Moana’s canoe and joins the adventure as she sets off on a trek beyond the island.
Heihei is a complete and utter moron. The upshot is that he puts himself in varied degrees of danger without much notice since he is completely ignorant to what is around him. This makes him an obstacle for Moana on her mission but she will do all she can to protect and love him wholeheartedly.
Heihei possesses a degree of knowledge that is seldom seen, despite his behaviors clearly implying differently. Because of this, he was able to tell his island home from the vastness of the ocean, and he also determined that he and Moana had gone by Motunui’s reef on their way to it (which is against the village law because of the dangers within the sea). Perhaps the only time in his life that Heihei displayed any symptoms of mortality or dread was when he went into a frenzy about this. During the last fight with Te K, he showed that he recognized the significance of Te Fiti’s heart to Moana by voluntarily risking his life to assist her in preserving it.
