Story of Hopper’s Life.

Hopper is emotionally distant and cynical after losing his only kid. His misery was treated with alcohol, cigarettes, and anti-anxiety drugs. He had sex with several women but never followed up with them.
Despite becoming Police Chief, he showed a lack of regard for his job by sleeping in and being a laid-back worker. After Will Byers’ disappearance led to a government cover-up, he started caring about his work.
Hopper’s empathy and concern for Eleven led to an instant father-daughter attachment. As a precaution for her safety and out of fear of losing her like his daughter, Hopper kept Eleven inside the cabin at all times. He loved her so strongly that he grew outraged when she put herself in danger, something he subsequently regretted. He afterwards apologized for his error. During their time together, his feeling of duty did not wane, and he regularly visited Will to see how he was doing and to help, as well as to explore Hawkins’ weird happenings.
Hopper later adopted Eleven with Dr. Owens’ help.
