InuYasha anime manga
Rumiko Takahashi is the author of the Inuyasha manga series, which she also illustrates. The title literally translates to “Dog Yaksha.” From November 1996 through June 2008, it was published in the young adult manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday by Shogakukan. The individual chapters were then compiled into a total of fifty-six tankobon volumes. After falling into a well at her family shrine, Kagome Higurashi, a middle school girl from modern-day Tokyo who is fifteen years old, is sent to the Sengoku era. It is during this time that she encounters the half-dog demon, half-human Inuyasha.
The story opens with Kagome Higurashi. As soon as the holy Shikon Jewel begins to surface from its hiding place deep inside Kagome’s body, she breaks it into hundreds of pieces, which then go on to be dispersed all throughout Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome embark on a mission to reassemble the Jewel, and while they travel the world in search of its pieces, they are accompanied on their journey by the lustful monk Miroku, the demon hunter Sango, and the fox demon Shippo. Together, they go on a quest to retrieve the Shikon Jewel and restore it to its former glory before the nefarious half-demon Naraku can get his paws on it.
In contrast to the normally comic character of most of Takahashi’s prior work, Inuyasha deals with a darker and more serious subject matter. The author uses the setting of the Sengoku period to readily portray the violent material, while yet managing to keep some funny parts in the show. Sunrise adapted the manga into two different anime television series that they produced. The first series aired on Yomiuri TV for a total of 167 episodes between the years October 2000 and September 2004. Inuyasha: The Final Act was the second series, and it aired for a total of 26 episodes between October 2009 and March 2010. In addition, there has been the release of four feature films as well as an original video animation. Video games and a quick read are also included with the other items. Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is the name of the sequel anime television series that ran for two seasons, beginning in October 2020 and ending in March 2022.
