IT Pennywise Stephen King Halloween Horror Movie
IT is the primary antagonist and title character in Stephen King‘s 1986 horror novel It. The figure is an ancient, trans-dimensional evil monster that preys on the children (and occasionally adults) of Derry, Maine, every 27 years, employing a range of abilities such as shapeshifting, manipulating reality, and going unobserved by adults. It typically appears in the guise of Pennywise the Dancing Clown throughout the novel. Pennywise is initially seen by Bill’s younger brother Georgie in “The Losers Club.”
In a 2013 interview, King revealed that he came up with the concept for Pennywise after asking himself what terrified children dreaded “more than anything else in the universe,” and concluding that clowns were the answer. King imagined a sewer-dwelling troll similar to the one in the children’s story “Three Billy Goats Gruff.”
Tim Curry played Pennywise in the 1990 television version, Lilliput in the 1998 television adaptation, and Bill Skarsgard in the 2017 film adaptation and its 2019 sequel IT Chapter Two.
