Jhene Aiko Music
Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo is an American singer who began her career by providing vocals and acting in various music videos for R&B group B2K. She was known as Lil’ Fizz’s “cousin” at the time, despite the fact that she is not connected to him. It was recommended by Sony and Epic Records as a marketing technique to promote Aiko via the group and create her own fan base. In 2003, Aiko was slated to release her first album, My Name Is Jhené, via her labels Sony, The Ultimate Group, and Epic; however, the record was never published, and Aiko finally asked to be freed from the label in order to complete her schooling.
Aiko returned to music in March 2011 with the release of her first full-length record, a mixtape titled Sailing Soul (s). On December 16, 2011, Aiko signed a recording deal with American record producer No I.D.’s record label ARTium, which is distributed by Def Jam Recordings. Aiko performed with Lil Wayne on Big Sean’s tune “Beware” in 2013, which earned her first top 40 records on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Sail Out, her debut project for Artium and Def Jam was released in November 2013. The EP was accompanied by the songs “3:16 AM,” “Bed Peace” (with Childish Gambino), and “The Worst,” the latter of which was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
