The Chiodo Brothers wrote, directed, and produced Killer Klowns from Outer Space, a 1988 American science fiction comedic horror film starring Grant Cramer, Suzanne Snyder, John Allen Nelson, and John Vernon. It’s the only film written and directed by the Chiodo Brothers, who also did the practical effects and makeup. The plot revolves on a gang of malevolent extraterrestrials that all look like clowns. They come on Earth and assault a tiny village, capturing, killing, and harvesting the human people for food.

The filming of Killer Klowns from Outer Space took place in Watsonville, California, and on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The film employs realistic effects such as rubber outfits. John Massari created the score. The film garnered mostly good reviews and is now regarded as a cult classic.

Since the first film’s release, a sequel has been in development hell, with Stephen Chiodo stating that he aims to make a series of films with a total of four chapters, or a television series based on the film. On October 22, 2018, the SyFy channel stated that it was in discussions to buy the film’s rights in order to make a sequel.
