Nanatsu no Taizai Anime
Nakaba Suzuki wrote and drew The Seven Deadly Sins (, Nanatsu no Taizai). The chapters were compiled into 41 tankobon volumes from October 2012 to March 2020. The narrative follows seven knights symbolizing the seven deadly sins in a medieval environment. Kodansha USA licensed the manga for English publication in North America, while Crunchyroll distributed the chapters online in over 170 countries. A-1 Pictures turned the series into a two-season anime TV series and a film, Prisoners of the Sky. Studio Deen created two more seasons from October 2019 to June 2021 and Cursed by Light. Netflix has the exclusive English streaming rights, while Funimation has the first season’s home video rights. The Seven Deadly Sins has 37 million copies in March 2020. 2015 was the 39th Kodansha Manga Award for shonen.
The Seven Deadly Sins are a company of knights in Britannia (, Buritania) that dissolved 10 years previously after being accused of preparing a revolt against the Liones Kingdom. Elizabeth Liones encounters Meliodas, commander of the Seven Deadly Sins before they seek for his compatriots to clear their guilt and free Liones from the Holy Knights, who were tricked by Fraudrin into unsealing the Demon Race’s prison. Meliodas is the Demon King’s cursed son whose fate is intertwined with Elizabeth’s as the Sins battle the Ten Commandments headed by his brother Zeldris. The Seven Deadly Sins debuted as a 2011 one-shot in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. Nakaba Suzuki drew 20 pilot chapters.
In 2015, Kodansha USA published “Chapter X” in English. Suzuki used character names from King Arthur’s stories but created their personalities and the plot. Meliodas and Elizabeth’s connection was predetermined, but the author made up everything else monthly to make it surprising. To surprise readers, he made some of the knights’ looks different from their wanted posters in the first chapter and gave others “horrible” characters. Suzuki struggled to develop Meliodas’ profile since the character is an adult. He stated his hair was the hardest part; he had never had “fluffy” hair before. The author thought the character’s long, straight hair in the pilot chapter wasn’t as charming. [6] Suzuki consistently showed the subtle differences in the knights’ relationships. Ban is Meliodas’ closest buddy, although King is a teammate he doesn’t speak to. The author calls all seven’s connections genuinely human.
