The American vampire film action/horror flick Near Dark was produced in the United States. Kathryn Bigelow penned the screenplay, directed the movie, and Eric Red contributed to the writing of the script. The De Laurentiis Entertainment Group (DEG) was responsible for producing the movie, and on October 2, 1987, it was made available in theaters throughout the United States.
The plot of the film is about a young kid called Caleb Colton who develops feelings for a gorgeous blonde-haired girl named Mae, only to later learn that Mae is a member of a bunch of vampires who are on the move and smacking each other about. It is up to his farmer father Loy to devise a cure for him using his farm-like magic after he receives the bite and starts changing into a vampire while he is trying to help Mae get away from these crazies.
