Poltergeist 90S Scary Movie Halloween Horror Movie
Poltergeist is a 1982 American supernatural horror film directed by Tobe Hooper and written by Steven Spielberg, Michael Grais, and Mark Victor based on Spielberg’s tale. It was produced by Spielberg and Frank Marshall and stars JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson, Heather O’Rourke, and Beatrice Straight. The story revolves around a suburban family whose house is besieged by malicious spirits that kidnap their daughter.
Because Spielberg was legally prohibited to direct another picture while working on E.T., Hooper was chosen based on his work on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Funhouse. Poltergeist was originally planned as a horror sequel to Spielberg’s 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind, named Night Skies; however, Hooper was less interested in the sci-fi components and proposed they cooperate on a ghost narrative. The extent of Spielberg’s participation varies, although it is evident that he was regularly on site throughout production and had extensive creative control. As a result, some argue that Spielberg should be regarded as the film’s co-director, if not the principal director, but both Spielberg and Hooper have denied this.
