Attacks on Abortion by the State
In spite of the steady support that Roe v. Wade receives from Americans, state politicians have spent decades working to limit access to abortion.
- Between the months of January and May of 2022, 11 states passed a total of 42 abortion prohibitions, one of which was a complete ban. In addition, 42 states passed a total of 541 new limitations on abortion.
- A total of 108 abortion bans and restrictions were implemented by state legislatures throughout the US in 2021, making it the year with the highest annual total for any year since 1973. It includes a prohibition on abortions after six weeks in Texas.
- From 1973 through 2021, states passed a total of 1,336 abortion restrictions, with over half of them being passed in the most recent decade.
People who wish to have an abortion have been subjected to public shaming, social pressure, legal punishment, and legal obstruction as a result of these regulations. A significant number of these statutes openly disregarded the ruling of Roe v. Wade.
Honor the decision of the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade and the year 1973, when they decided to legalize abortion. Every woman has the right to make her own decisions about her body and health, regardless of where she lives. Put on this pattern with confidence!
