The Story of Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Parlor
Scoops Ahoy is at Starcourt Mall’s Food Court. Before the Mind Flayer demolished the mall, Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley worked there. Scoops Ahoy employees wore sailor-themed clothing to promote their nautical motif.
Steve met Robin when he applied at Scoops Ahoy in 1985. Robin was in his Hawkins High School class, but they never talked. Steve’s new job allowed the group to enter the movie theater via the mall’s back tunnels without paying.
Dustin visited Scoops Ahoy to ask Steve to translate a Russian broadcast he heard on Cerebro while at Camp Know Where. Robin backed them. They spent a day deciphering the message. The transmission indicated that Russians were delivering things to a protected mall service door. Robin persuaded Erica to enter Starcourt’s ventilation system and open the door. Erica agreed to help for “life” ice cream. When they entered, they saw a room with Russian-delivered containers. Covert Russian escalator. “Scoops Troop” fell onto a Russian garrison under Starcourt.
The Spider Monster and a fire then destroyed the ice cream parlor and retail complex.
