Shin Seiki Evangelion Introduction

Shin Seiki Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン) is a Japanese television anime series produced by Gainax and animated by Tatsunoko, directed by Anno Hideaki. The series first aired on TV Tokyo from October 1995 to March 1996. The voice cast includes Ogata Megumi as Ikari Shinji, Mitsuishi Kotono as Katsuragi Misato, Hayashibara Megumi as Rei Ayanami, and Miyamura Yūko as Soryu Asuka Langley.

Evangelion is set in Tokyo-3 15 years after a global earthquake. Ikari Shinji joins Nerv at his father Gendo’s request to operate a massive biological machine (“Evangelion”) to resist the invasion of “Angels”. The film follows the Evangelion pilots and Nerv crew as they struggle to halt the “Angels” calamities increase. During this struggle, they uncover the ultimate source of catastrophic occurrences and humanity’s self-destruction.
