The Serpent And The Rainbow 90S Scary Movie Halloween Horror Movie
The Serpent and the Rainbow is an American horror film directed by Wes Craven and starring Bill Pullman that was released in 1988. The script by Richard Maxwell and Adam Rodman is loosely based on ethnobotanist Wade Davis’ non-fiction book of the same name, in which Davis recounted his experiences in Haiti investigating the story of Clairvius Narcisse, who was allegedly poisoned, buried alive, and revived with a herbal brew that produced a zombie.
A Haitian man called Christophe inexplicably dies in a French missionary clinic in 1978, as a voodoo procession marches by his window. Christophe is buried the following morning in a conventional Catholic burial. In attendance is a mystery guy dressed in a suit who was outside Christophe’s hospital window on the night he died. Christophe’s eyes open and tears stream down his face as the casket is lowered into the grave.
Seven years later, Harvard anthropologist Dennis Alan is in the Amazon jungle with a native shaman exploring unusual plants and cures. After drinking a potion, he has a vision of the same black guy from Christophe’s funeral, surrounded by corpses in a bottomless pit.
