Upside-down Mysteries: What We Don’t Know

Other than creating beings, the Upside Down looks powerless.
Is it due of its capabilities or because scientists couldn’t put it down? Can it transport people? Nonsense. Telepathy: possible? The Upside Down is a dreadful hospital for despondent teens (sorry Will).
What’s its age? Stranger Things is set in the 1980s, when scientists (and Russia) were fascinated with the Upside Down.
New realm or accidental sighting? Another idea is that the Upside Down just became popular in the 1980s, thus its current popularity. Scientists and the public don’t know, but maybe soon.
Who are they? Will was carried into the Upside Down by the Demogorgon and Mind Flayer, but it’s unclear whether anything else lurks underneath Hawkins.
In the Upside Down, good and evil creatures coexist. No one except Will has spent enough time in the dilapidated area to know who lives or lived there. I guess it was too spooky to support life at any moment.
