Who is Max?

Max is a tomboy with peculiar historical interests. She disliked press-on nails, perms, and tanning in California. Her high Dig Dug scores show she’s good at arcade games. She adores horror movies, as her Michael Myers costume indicates. Max drove with minimal experience. Max defended Billy from his father with ice. Max was conflicted about Billy.
She distrusted Hawkins’ newcomers. Her brother’s abuse exacerbated her feelings. She was skeptical of her new society’s oddities. She was happy to help after recognizing the issue’s significance. She resisted Lucas and Dustin’s efforts to embrace her, but later joined the Party, loving their harsh treatment. She fought Billy to defend her new comrades and established her Party position.
