Why Why should you take the time to see Toys Story?
Toy Story is a 1995 Disney/Pixar computer-animated comedy film. It was the first computer-animated feature picture and Pixar’s first. John Lasseter (in his feature directorial debut) directed the picture, which was written by Joss Whedon, Andrew Stanton, Joel Cohen, and Alec Sokolow. Steve Jobs and Edwin Catmull executive produced the film with Bonnie Arnold and Ralph Guggenheim. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Jim Varney, Annie Potts, R. Lee Ermey, John Morris, Laurie Metcalf, and Erik von Detten voice characters. In a world where toys come to life while people are absent, the narrative centers on an old-fashioned pull-string cowboy doll called Woody and a futuristic astronaut action figure, Buzz Lightyear, as they progress from competitors to friends who work together to be reunited with Andy Davis.
Disney asked Pixar to make a computer-animated feature film from a toy’s viewpoint after Tin Toy’s popularity. Disney rejected Lasseter, Stanton, and Docter’s early plot proposals because they desired a “grittier” tone. After numerous failed story reels, work was paused and the screenplay was changed to suit the tone and message Pixar desired: “toys really want children to play with them, and this drives their hopes, fears, and actions.” The tiny studio produced the picture with little financial restrictions.
Toy Story debuted on November 19, 1995, at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and opened on November 22, 1995. It grossed nearly $373 million worldwide, making it 1995’s second highest-grossing picture. Rotten Tomatoes gives the picture a perfect score. It was hailed for its 3D animation, humor and conceptual profundity of the writing, musical soundtrack, and voice performances (especially Hanks and Allen). [4] The film won a Special Achievement Academy Award and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Song for “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” and Best Original Score. [5] The Library of Congress selected the picture for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2005 as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically important,” one of seven in its first year of eligibility. Toy Story 2 created a multimedia franchise and three sequels (1999). In 2009, the picture was re-released in 3-D as part of a double feature.
