Prince, who was born and reared in Minneapolis, Minnesota, secured a record contract with Warner Bros. Records at the age of nineteen, releasing the albums For You (1978) and Prince (1979). Hollow circle above a downward arrow crossed with a curlicued horn-shaped sign and then a short bar (known to fans as the “Love Symbol”), and was also known as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince (or TAFKAP) and simply the Artist.
