Raul’s Wild Kingdom is a show in the film UHF. In UHF, George Newman is a daydreamer whose overactive imagination prevents him from keeping down a regular job. His uncle considers George is the ideal candidate to head Channel 62, a television station that is rapidly losing money and viewers. However, when George replaces the station’s repeats with strange shows like “Stanley Spadowski’s Clubhouse,” “Wheel of Fish,” and “Raul’s Wild Kingdom,” ratings begin to rise. This news enrages R.J. Fletcher, the mean-spirited and cynical owner of a competing station. Unfortunately, gambling debts lead the uncle to contemplate selling the station to Fletcher, who would then shut down Channel 62 (he couldn’t legally own two stations in the same town). George and his buddies arrange a 48-hour telethon with the purpose of selling investment shares from the station in order to rescue it.
