In Halloween Kills, who plays Dr. Loomis?
In the original Halloween, horror veteran Christopher Lee famously turned down the role of Dr. Loomis, the obsessive psychiatrist of escaped murderer Michael Myers. Lee’s loss was Donald Pleasence’s gain, as he subsequently acknowledged to filmmaker John Carpenter that he only agreed to play the part because his daughter enjoyed the soundtrack to Carpenter’s Assault On Precinct 13 (which he also directed).
Halloween went on to become an unexpectedly big success, and Loomis evolved into the series Van Helsing. Following a series pause for the Michael Myers-free Halloween 3, Pleasence would resume Loomis for Halloween 4, 5, and 6. The performer gave the role tremendous seriousness and grounded even the most ridiculous sequels. Curiously, despite having several opportunities, Michael never killed his old doctor in these early escapades, implying he either maintained a personal bond – or he just wanted Dr. Loomis to suffer for his inability to stop him.
For horror movie aficionados, this Dr. Loomis Halloween Horror Movie Vintage T-shirt is a must-have. The front image depicts Dr. Loomis from Halloween, as performed by the iconic Donald Pleasence.
