Tim Burton wrote the poem that inspired The Nightmare Before Christmas while working as an animator for Disney. For the Daily Beast in 2013, Henry Selick said Burton composed the poem as a new version of “Twas The Night Before Christmas.”. Despite Burton’s best efforts in 1983, a stop-motion film based on the poem was never made. Jack Skellington, his dog Zero and Santa Claus were all depicted in the poem, which was written by Burton and even included artwork for the characters.
