Adventures of the Gummi Bears is an American animated television series that ran from 1985 to 1991 in the United States. The series was Walt Disney Television’s first animated production and was partially inspired by gummy bear sweets; Disney CEO Michael Eisner was struck with inspiration for the program after his kid requested the candy one day. The show debuted on NBC on September 14, 1985, and ran for four seasons. The series went to ABC for one season from 1989 to 1990 (as the Gummi Bears-Winnie the Pooh Hour, with The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) and ended on September 6, 1991, as part of the Disney Afternoon television syndication package.
Thirty of the series’ 65 presentations consisted of two 11-minute cartoons, bringing the series total to 95 separate episodes. The program is renowned for its theme song, composed by Michael and Patty Silversher, as well as the “gummiberry juice,” a sort of magical elixir that gives the bears the power to bounce away from their enemies.
